On this Page I want to talk to you about different systems used in industrial automation.
When I talk about a system I mean a set of several components, like automation controllers, build together to automate a certain task in an industrial environment. It is all about a group of components often from different manufacturers, that are engineered together as one system.
Of course what jumps to mind when we talk about a system is a robot. But not only robots are being considered as systems. Also for example field bus networks, displays connected to a network, wireless communication networks, motion control systems, and industrial computer networks, are all examples of systems. These systems are complex, and when one component fails to work properly the whole system goes down.Another example is machine information systems. Machine information systems can be integrated by custom machine builders. So it takes a lot of engineering experience to build an automation system. But it also takes, or takes even more knowledge to repair them.
