Linux Home Automation – When I think about Linux used in automating your home, I first think of the LinuxHA Project that can be found at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxha/ on the internet. But the home page of the project can be found at: http://www.linuxha.com/linuxha/ , here you find a standard software interface that supports various Home Automation Controllers.

An other interesting website is: http://hackaday.com/2005/07/26/linux-home-automation/ , here we find the Mister House software, that supports a lot of home automation devices. This long standing home automation project, uses a web-interface to control your house, and has voice recognition and gives you voice feedback. It also offers a whole bunch of extra modules to create extra functionality, like a caller ID that is voice announced.

LinuxMCE is an open source application that combines: a security system, media and entertainment, a phone system, and home automation controls. Full details can be found at: http://linuxmce.com/

And finally an other open source home automation suite is called Minerva. Steven Goodwin originally designed Minerva in 2003, and is still active in the Free and Open Source Communities. More info can be found on: http://www.minervahome.net/index.htm
