Magnetic field sensor – Also called actuator sensors, are being used to detect magnets in C-slot and T-slot pneumatic cylinders. These new generation magnetic cylinder sensors fit a variety of cylinder types smooth, dovetail, tie-rod, and integrated profile. Linear slides and parallel grippers, these days, are being designed more compact, to fit positioning applications and pick-and-place solutions.

In order to be able to equip these smaller machines with sensors, sensor manufacturers have developed smaller, but more robust magnetic sensors, that easily fit into slot style cylinders, providing low profile mounting. These miniature slot sensors, often not longer then 15 mm to 25 mm, feature one handed top-loading mounting. This eliminates the need to remove the cylinder end-caps.

The integrated tab prevents the sensor from sliding, during the installation process, even in a vertical positioned cylinder. By tightening the mounting screw, the sensor is secured, with an allen wrench, or a flat-head screwdriver.

Magnetic cylinder sensors are available in various electrical connections, according to the application. These include, but are not limited to, standard M8 snap-fit pigtail, threaded M8 pigtail, threaded M12 pigtail, or standard 2 meter cable.
