Omron - an introduction to the company that stood a the cradle of industrial automation.

Omron is a major industrial automation solution provider. Established in 1933 as the Tateisi Electric Manufacturing Co., since then innovative solutions have come our way. As a matter of fact this company stands at the cradle of industrial automation as we know it today.

In 1932 a friend of the founding father of the company, Kazuma Tateisi, asked him for a high precision timer for an x-ray machine. Mr Tateisi was able to build it satisfying his customer. This initial success lay also the financial foundations of the company.

Following the first success, a relay factory was built in 1935. In 1943 the production of precision switches was accomplished. After world war II they focused on home appliances since Japan's industry was destroyed in the war. Then in the year 1955 re-starts the production of precision switches. Since then they tend to refer to 1955 as Year One of Automation. In 1960 it develops the dream switch, the first contact-less solid state switch. In 1963 we see the first automatic ticket vending machine. Since the economic growth in Japan, also the traffic grows, so in 1964 an automated traffic light is being presented. Then in 1967 the first unmanned train station system is completed. In 1971 the world's first on-line automated cash dispenser is delivered. The following year we see the development of the Sysmac plc. And in 1987 they applied fuzzy logic control in their programmable controllers. Since 1991 fuzzy logic is applied in automated in-line inspection systems.
