Safety light screens are applied in machine construction whenever there is the need to protect the operator’s fingers, hands, ankles or torso. These non-contact machine guarding systems are used when we need to cover or safe-guard a small or large area. Depending on what we need to protect: fingers, hands, ankles or torso, the screen are selected. Another selection criteria is the safety category: 2, 3 or 4. A safety light screen consists of an emitter and a receiver, plus a control box and cables to connect the emitter and receiver to the control box. Newer types do not use a separate control box. The functionality of the control box, for the newest models, resides in the receiver. Some models are suitable for heavy-duty machine guarding applications. Well known manufacturers of safety light screens are: www.bannerengineering.com ; www.omron.com ; www.sick.com ; www.pinnaclesystems.com ; www.rockwellautomation.com ; www.schmersalusa.com ; www.leuze.com ; www.keyence.com
