A safety mat consists of a hard plastic plate. In this plate there is free space where the contacts are being put. On the top a thick, anti-slip, flexible rubber is mounted. The sides can be equipped with an anodized aluminium frame to position the mat. The mat can also be installed without a frame. It is not strictly necessary. The contact strip in the mat is connected via one, or two cables to the safety module. The maximum size for one mat to be connected to one safety module is 4.5 square meter. The assembly mat, plus safety module has got safety category 3. This is the maximum safety category for a mat. The module is placed in a cabinet, the mat itself is IP 67.
